Spider Veins

Fine surface vessels closed with wavelength-matched vascular laser.

Spider veins — telangiectasia — are dilated capillaries visible just beneath the surface, most often on the legs, cheeks and around the nose. They are usually a cosmetic concern, though they can signal underlying venous pressure that deserves assessment.

  • Nd:YAG vascular laser
  • Pulsed dye laser
  • Sclerotherapy for feeders
  • Contact cooling
Understanding

Diagnosed first, treated second.

Vascular laser targets the haemoglobin inside the vessel. The wall heats, collapses and is reabsorbed by the body, while the surrounding skin, which absorbs far less of that wavelength, is left unaffected. Larger feeding vessels may be closed with sclerotherapy first.

Protocol

How the treatment works

A sequence, not a single appointment — each step informs the next.

  1. 01

    Vascular mapping

Assessment of vessel calibre and, on the legs, screening for underlying venous reflux.

  2. 02

    Test patch

Settings calibrated to your skin tone and vessel depth before full treatment.

  3. 03

    Treatment

Vessels traced with cooled laser pulses; each session takes fifteen to thirty minutes.

  4. 04

    Review

Assessment at four to six weeks, with a further pass for any vessel that remains.

Questions

Frequently asked

Like a brief warm snap against the skin, eased by contact cooling throughout the session.

Most patients need two to four, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on vessel density.

Treated vessels do not reopen, but new ones can form — maintenance is occasional rather than continuous.

They can, provided the area is kept out of direct sun and protected between sessions.
